Learn powerful healing techniques using the power of yoga and sound!
Sound and music have the power to heal and uplift us. Paramhansa Yogananda wrote, “Because man himself is an expression of the Creative Word, sound has the most potent and immediate effect on him, offering a way to remembrance of his divine origin.” How does it do that? And how can we use this principle practically and effectively in our own lives? The goal of this course is to give you a toolkit of simple, easy, and inexpensive techniques you can use on your own to shift out of unproductive emotions.
In this class you will:
- Learn why sound and music affect us so profoundly, through a brief overview of some principles of physics and human physiology
- Play and experiment with some popular sound healing tools, including singing bowls and tuning forks
- Learn how to use your voice to calm agitated feelings. (Reference: Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodha). We will cover the power of mantra, japa, chanting to the chakras, a sound healing pranayama technique, and more.
- Examine the effect different types of music have on the way we feel, and understand the power of your own choices around the music you listen to in your home environment
Andra Denslow is an experienced yoga therapist, sound healer, Certified Music Practitioner®, and performing musician. Her journey of healing with sound and music has taken her into hospitals and hospice with her harp, into one-on-one sound sessions with clients, and into playing live music on harp, flute and tanpura for the deep relaxation portion of her yoga classes. Andra has developed Serenity Song Essences, which are personalized vibrational healing essences in the form of an original, unique song or chant, which the client sings for a period of time until the issue has resolved. Andra enjoys sharing the pure love of the heart in the form of sound vibration and music. Come join her!
