These ministerial services are available to everyone. You do not need to be an Ananda member to attend services or draw upon the ministers and the services of Ananda Los Angeles.

Sunday Satsang

All are welcome. Based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda whose mission is, in his words, "to awaken people to their need for Self-realization, through meditation, and in keeping good company, or fellowship, with other truth-seeking souls...to bring back to the world the original teachings and science of yoga as taught by Krishna, and the original Christianity of Jesus Christ."

Sunday Satsang includes group chanting and a brief meditation ending with an affirmation. A reading from commentaries on scriptures of East and West create the theme for the minister’s inspirational talk. We often include a fire ceremony or A “Festival of Light” ceremony, thus creating the space to open your heart to the Divine within. Support for your spiritual practices

Recharge and Relax

This half-day will set the tone for your week! Take time to rejuvenate on all levels. These mornings will include Energization Exercises to draw energy into the body, Ananda Yoga postures to stretch and relax, chanting to open the heart, and meditation to still the mind and feel the peace of your inner being. Weather permitting, we¹ll convene to the nearby beach and practice there. Refreshments and informal discussion will end the morning.

Discipleship Ceremony

We offer discipleship initiation for members.

It is a simple, but deep, ceremony where we chant and meditate together. Ministers Krishnadas and Mantradevi talk about discipleship, and then the new disciple repeats the discipleship vow and offers flowers and a donation at the altar.

They are then blessed, in the name of our line of gurus, by the ministers.

Offering a flower symbolizes the devotion of your heart and the donation symbolizes the desire to serve and help share these teachings of self-realization. You feel God’s blessings ever more deeply in your lives.
